The cutting begins! I started out with basically NO plan, I just knew I wanted some tree shapes in the foreground. I learned this the hard way: wrap your willy (or x-acto blade cutter) with gauze tape. You WILL get blisters if you don’t.
These LED strips are friggin’ cheap! Self- adhesive backing, they come in different colors, etc. $20 on Amazon for the lights and power supply…you’ll want to put them on everything! And kids…white LEDs can damage your fragile little eyeballs. Do not look directly at them!
The paper used for cutting. It’s so soft-looking and white. Very sturdy so you don’t have to worry about ripping so much.
Put a few layers together. Spacing them with 1/4″ foam board.
Seeing what the layers look like in the shadowbox. $30 from Michaels. 10″ x 10″ x 4″
Testing the LEDs. In the finished box, they line the entire border at the very back.
Care to take a guess as to who these iconic characters are?
Smashin’ the layers together while the box gets cleaned out.
VIOLA! The white lights gave a very wintery feel to it.
closer.
